Responsibilities and qualifications
Your overall focus will be to strengthen our expertise in electric power components as they function within power systems and subsystems supporting their integration operation and development in particular seen in the light of a changing dynamic power system with increasing use of converters at all levels.
The position covers the research area of component- and subsystem-level phenomena in HVDC and HVAC grids addressing challenges such as transients overvoltages harmonics and component reliability. It may include the development and validation of time-domain models - using tools such as EMT PSCAD and RTDS - to analyze transmission subsystems and the interactions between components including events driven by converters and protection systems. Other topics may include insulation coordination and compatibility across components and vendors in hybrid HVAC/DC contexts. Furthermore you may design and carry out laboratory and field verification campaigns for example on component characterization and performance in interaction with the grid collaborating closely with industry stakeholders to ensure practical relevance and impact. We expect your scientific background to be aligned with the described field.
The position will leverage ongoing partnerships and funding within among others endurance of cables and accessories under transients in future HVDC systems insulation coordination in HVAC/DC grids and reliable operation of hybrid transmission lines with many OHL/cable sections. We have a strong international focus actively engaging in global research collaborations partnerships and networks to advance knowledge and innovation in our field. The environment will enable you to quickly establish yourself in the role and accelerate both your professional development and research activities.
You will have the opportunity to benefit from our advanced computational tools and facilities including PSCAD RTDS and high-performance computers as part of our PowerLab facilities (). As a formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent)in electrical engineering (power systems highvoltage engineering power components or similar). If you are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.

For applicants to the Associate Professor position demonstrated leadership in research projects industrial collaboration and a record of securing research funding are expected plus documented teaching experiences beyond supervising students. Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
