LENGHT OF CONTRACT: 1 year
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to the delivery of the global No Plastic in Nature Initiative objectives leading on the development and execution of the global plastic policy and advocacy strategy and workplan in the LAC region;
- Under the governance of the LAC Secretariat and in coordination with the Leaders of the Policy and Conservation Cabinets manages the regional plastics community by convening regular meetings with office focal points and by promoting experience sharing collaboration peer learning and the development of joint initiatives.
- Support key network offices in LAC in developing national advocacy and technical activities on the plastic pollution treaty process and NPIN policy priorities;
- Identify and lead policy engagement opportunities with key regional stakeholders including policymakers businesses civil society organisations and other partners within the framework of the global plastic pollution treaty negotiations and relevant regional platforms.
- Represent WWF in relevant regional and international fora by providing technical support and strengthen the capacity of LAC states to participate in treaty negotiations and implementation through workshops dialogues and roundtables;
- Develop regional or national strategic partnerships with key stakeholders working on plastic pollution including treaty negotiations and implementation;
- Contributes to the development and implementation of the advocacy plan and key actions to reduce plastic pollution and promote circular economy in the country of the host office.
- Identify needs and delegate development of policy papers briefs and other policy and advocacy products relevant for driving the global and regional plastics policy agenda in LAC;
- Actively use and contribute to the development of relevant internal database tools such as the Plastic Navigator;
- Ensure timely reporting for the project ;
- Collaborate closely with the Global Advocacy Manager the other Regional Coordinators the Global Plastics Policy Lead NPIN Initiative Lead the Policy Development Manager and WWF International Campaigns team;
- Collaborate with LAC Secretariat and key network offices in identifying funding opportunities and support the preparation of proposals.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE:
- Relevant bachelors degrees include but are not limited to Political Science International Relations Economics Development Studies Sociology Anthropology Law Environmental Studies Engineering and other related social economic environmental or technical disciplines.
- Postgraduate degree preferably Masters level in a relevant field (Development studies International policy Political Science Political Economy Economics Engineering Environmental Studies).
- A minimum of 6 years of experience working for an international organization preferably in policy development and advocacy;
- Demonstrated success in delivering policy advocacy objectives;
- Knowledge of environmental policy and international frameworks particularly in the context of plastic pollution and circular economy. Understanding of political issues trends and developments in LAC and globally;
- Proven experience in coordinating diverse teams and stakeholders and in managing and facilitating collaborative spaces that foster joint learning knowledge exchange and collective action.
- Understanding and knowledge of the interdependence of nature and humans relationships between environment economy social issues and development;
- Ability to adapt to varied audiences from academia to civil society and governments to international agencies;
- Active network of contacts in the United Nations System with LAC policy makers through which advocacy can be accomplished is desired;
- Excellent oral and written communications skills in Spanish and English is required.
