We are currently seeking a talented Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Bowmanville or Mississauga office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC plumbing fire protection and other aspects of mechanical engineering for buildings. They should demonstrate understanding in buildings decarbonization or deep retrofit projects high energy efficiency projects and strong abilities in cultivating relationships with clients. We are appreciative of candidates with a willingness to learn and take on added responsibility. You will work in a hybrid model with 2 days /week in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare the design of institutional buildings including education recreation health care municipal and commercial projects as well as other types of buildings such as industrial and transportation
- Working with a lead engineer to liaise with clients and maintain business relationships
- Investigate survey and audit sites
- Manage and work with the project team from conceptual and preliminary stages of design through to construction completion including tender and construction/contract administration
- Help oversee and delegate work as needed to junior staff
- Prepare technical reports
- Prepare and write specifications
- Prepare construction cost estimates
- Project planning including design schedule and proposed construction schedules
- Ensure compliance to the quality assurance and control program
Qualifications :
- A recognized mechanical engineering degree and license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as a P. Eng.
- At least 7 years of directly related experience in mechanical buildings engineering including HVAC plumbing and building services
- Self-motivation and strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- In depth knowledge of Canadian Design Standards and Codes such as OBC ASHRAE 90.1 62.1 CSA B149.1 B44 B52 NFPA
- Knowledge of commercial building automation systems and DDC controls systems
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD MicroStation Revit and commercial HVAC load calculation software
- Valid drivers licence and access to transportation for project requirements
