Job Summary

POSITION:Part-Time Academic Coach
POSITION DESCRIPTION:East Texas Baptist University invites applications for a part-time Academic Coach in the Office of Academic Success. The position begins January 2026 and will include meeting weekly with students to provide academic support to students using best practices to foster college success. This position is a semester-based position that is active during fall and spring academic terms and is not expected to continue outside of regular semester periods. Summer employment is not included.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:ETBU seeks a qualified individual with student support experience. The Academic Coach should hold a bachelors degree in education counseling student development or a related field and have experience working with high school or college students in providing academic support advising and mentoring. The ideal candidate demonstrates knowledge of best practices in academic success strategies including time management study skills goal setting and learning strategies along with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Familiarity with learning management systems and campus support services is desired but not required. Candidates must possess the ability to motivate students maintain confidentiality provide accountability document student progress and provide consistent student-centered feedback to learners using a variety of methods.

Employee shall be cognizant and committed to the values traditions and history of Baptists. Employee agrees that he or she is an active member of a local Baptist church or Christian denominational church and regularly attends as a servant leader and role model for the students of ETBU employee is required to participate in the life of the University via institutional meetings Chapel services prayer emphases discipleship programming committee participation local community ministry/service and campus activities and events. Employee provides active support of the spiritual intellectual and educational ideals values activities and objectives of East Texas Baptist University; and conforms to Christian standards of faith and service.
