Job Description
Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an Exciting Potential Opportunity and seeking experienced Ultrasound Technologistto support the VA Medical Centers in Portland Oregon and Vancouver Washington. This role offers the opportunity to work in a highly respected federal healthcare system providing essential diagnostic imaging services to our nations Veterans.
Required Qualifications
ARDMS registered in Abdomen/Small Parts plus at least two additional certifications
(e.g. RVT OB/GYN Musculoskeletal etc.)
Current BCLS certification
Demonstrated expertise in:
Scrotal and pelvic ultrasound
Ultrasound-guided biopsies (liver and renal)
Renal Doppler and vascular ultrasound
Minimum 3 years of hospital-based ultrasound experience in the U.S.
Must have worked as an Ultrasound Technologist in a hospital setting within the past 6 months
Must have worked as a Vascular Ultrasound Technologist in a hospital setting within the past 6 months
Current professional liability insurance
Ability to commit to a minimum 6-month assignment with the VA
Key Responsibilities
Perform standard and advanced ultrasound examinations including abdomen liver renal GYN small parts pelvis scrotum and vascular studies
Perform ultrasound-guided procedures including liver and renal biopsies (native and transplanted organs)
Conduct renal Doppler studies and evaluations for renal artery stenosis
Ensure high-quality imaging through proper positioning labeling technique and PACS transmission
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation within HIS/RIS systems (transitioning to Cerner)
Verify patient identity and exam orders prior to imaging
Explain procedures clearly to patients and address questions or concerns
Coordinate and prioritize scheduled and emergency exams to optimize scanner utilization
Confer with Radiologists regarding non-standard exams and urgent findings
Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities
Perform on-call and after-hours emergency ultrasound coverage as scheduled
Work independently while reporting unusual issues to the Imaging Chief Technologist
Maintain compliance with all safety infection control and VA imaging policies
