The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is a well-established unit in the College of Engineering and Polymer Science. The department offers BS MS and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering as well as BS and AAS degrees in EEET. There are currently 14 full-time and 5 part-time faculty members in the department. Faculty within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering currently pursue research in data analytics cybersecurity AI and machine learning networking and communications power and energy systems control systems electronics sensors IoT and computational electromagnetics. Our faculty members have been successful in securing external research funding from numerous federal funding agencies including NSF DoD DoE and DoT state funding agencies as well as global and national industry. There are state-of-the-art research and teaching laboratories and testing facilities. Center of Advanced Vehicles and Energy Systems (CAVES) hosts a DOE funded commercial dynamometer facility prototyping and testing facilities for power electronics data analytics smart grid sensors electronic circuits batteries electric machines renewable energy systems power distribution and transmission network. CAVES has worked with 50 companies over the past 10 years and attracted over $25M funding for research in the relevant areas. Applicants must demonstrate a track record of research with publications based on prior research work and the ability to carry out nationally competitive research in emerging areas of electrical and computer engineering. Applicants must be able to teach graduate and undergraduate courses relevant to their area of research and to direct Masters and Ph.D. student research preparing them for competitive careers in academia and industry.
