The Opportunity


The Enterprise Solutions Intern provides hands-on technical and administrative support to the Enterprise Solu-tions Department while gaining real-world experience in municipal information technology operations. This role assists with day-to-day IT tasks across infrastructure cybersecurity cloud services systems administration and customer support functions.

The Enterprise Solutions Intern works under the direction of Enterprise Solutions leadership and technical staff to support projects documentation asset management system deployments and service operations. This posi-tion is designed to provide exposure to public-sector IT best practices enterprise technologies cybersecurity fundamentals and professional workplace standards while supporting the City of Coppells mission and culture.

Schedule Commitment

Works a flexible work schedule Monday-Friday averaging 20 hours a week. Regular on-site attendance including days evenings and weekends as assigned.

Essential Job Functions
  • Models Coppells Core Competencies and Champions Coppells Culture.
  • General IT Support & Operations:

    • Assists Enterprise Solutions staff with daily IT operational tasks and project support.

    • Provides basic technical support for end users including hardware software and account-related issues.

    • Assists with imaging deployment and setup of computers mobile devices peripherals and accessories.

    • Helps track and manage IT assets inventory and equipment assignments.

    • Documents procedures processes and technical information for knowledge bases and SOPs.

  • Infrastructure & Systems Support:

    • Assists with server room network closet and workstation organization and maintenance.

    • Supports basic system administration tasks under supervision including user account provisioning and deprovisioning.

    • Observes and assists with patching upgrades and system maintenance activities.

    • Supports backup verification monitoring and reporting activities as assigned.

  • Cybersecurity & Information Security Support:

    • Assists with security-related tasks such as access reviews endpoint checks and basic vulnerability tracking.

    • Learns and follows cybersecurity best practices data handling standards and City security poli-cies.

    • Supports documentation and reporting related to security awareness audits or compliance activ-ities.

  • Cloud & Application Support:

    • Assists with Microsoft 365 administrative tasks under supervision (e.g. user setup licensing basic troubleshooting).

    • Supports application testing validation and rollout activities.

    • Helps maintain documentation related to cloud services and enterprise applications.

  • Customer Service & Professional Development:

    • Provides courteous professional customer service to City staff and stakeholders.

    • Learns public-sector IT service delivery standards and escalation procedures.

    • Participates in training meetings and professional development opportunities as assigned

Eligibility

ExperienceRequired

  • Current enrollment in or recent completion of a degree or certification program in Information Technol-ogy Computer Science Cybersecurity or a related field.

  • Basic experience with computers software applications and technology support (academic lab or per-sonal experience acceptable).

Preferred

  • Coursework or hands-on experience related to IT infrastructure cybersecurity networking or cloud technologies.

  • Experience providing customer service or technical support in a school internship or work setting.

  • Interest in public-sector or municipal technology careers.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Basic understanding of information technology concepts including computer hardware operating systems networking fundamentals cybersecurity awareness and cloud services. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 is preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with users of varying technical knowledge. Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to follow documented procedures and learn new technologies quickly. Organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to manage multiple tasks follow instructions and meet deadlines in a professional work environment. Ability to lift and move IT equipment and work in office and technical environments.
