Basic Functions:

The EHS Coordinator supports Safety and Health programs and functions to ensure a work environment which is free of accidents and illness. Evaluates Safety Programs for monitoring and controlling occupational health and safety standards. Additionally provides training for safety and health training as required. All team members have the right and responsibility to shut down production in the event of a Safety or Quality issue.

Specific Duties:

  • Coordinates the plants risk management program designed to minimize physical and financial exposure resulting from potential alleged or actual on-the-job injuries.

  • Recommends and supports actions and programs necessary to keep the plant in compliance with federal and state (OSHA) environmental (EPA) hazardous waste local health and safety laws.

  • The EHS Coordinator attends or leads the plant hourly Safety Team Central Safety Committee and Case Management Team.

  • Coordinates the development and the implementation of appropriate safety policies and practices to ensure compliance with Corporate guidelines.

  • Coordinates and in some cases conducts educational and training programs relative to safety for the purpose of empowering employees with the objective to achieve long-term results.

  • Coordinates the implementation of inspection programs e.g. - accident investigations and equipment inspections.

  • The EHS Coordinator conducts Job Safety Analysis on each manufacturing job.

  • Coordinates emergency response as needed.

  • Coordinates the development and recommends policies and practices related to industrial hygiene and worker compensation.

  • Interacts with vendors and Purchasing to evaluate personal protective equipment chemicals for all hazards establish ratings and hazardous waste management policies and practices and coordinate with plant engineering and assess Material Safety Data Sheets.

  • Coordinates the administration of the of the Hazardous Communication Program.

  • Perform all additional duties as assigned.

  • Utilize methods for continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced working in a manufacturing environment

  • Experienced with first aid and CPR response

  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred

  • Must be available to work second shift (4:30pm - 1am)
