About The Team

The Office of Pro Vice Chancellor First Nations is guided by principles of truth-telling reconciliation and empowerment. Working across the entire University the Office supports the success and inclusion of First Nations students and staff while actively advancing Indigenous knowledges and cultural inclusivity within the University community and beyond.

Your New Role!

Moorditj-abiny a Noongar phrase meaning becoming strong or a strong path forward reflects the purpose of the Moorditj-abiny Program. The program supports the indigenisation of the University by offering workshops sessions yarns outreach activities and events that promote celebrate and embed First Nations knowledges and perspectives. It also provides valuable professional development opportunities for First Nations students.

Moorditj-abiny Champions play an essential role by helping coordinate and deliver these workshops training sessions outreach initiatives and events.

Your key responsibilities will include

  • Build positive relationships welcome new students host campus tours and assist with outreach and engagement activities that support First Nations communities and prospective students
  • Support the planning co-design and delivery of workshops cultural capability and cultural leadership training information sessions and events; manage logistics materials communications enquiries and administrative tasks
  • Represent the University at internal and external events manage information stalls work collaboratively within the First Nations team embody University values follow policies and undertake additional duties are required

This casual role attracts a competitive casual rate of $41.28 p/hr $45.98 p/hr inclusive of 25% casual loading plus 12% employer superannuation contributions.

What youll bring to the role:

  • Currently enrolled at Murdoch University and preferably having completed at least one semester with satisfactory academic standing
  • Understanding of First Nations students and the challenges they may face within the University environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students staff and Community members
  • Confidence and capability to interact with diverse groups and deliver presentations or training sessions
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively supported by strong organisational and time-management skills
