Job Summary
Granite Saw Operator
Rock of Agescurrently has an opening for aGranite Saw Operatorin our Production Plantat ourGraniteville VTlocation. This position is responsible for cutting and preparing raw granite blocks according to production orders ensuring maximum material utilization and minimal waste while preparing them for the next stages of manufacturing into finished stone products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely operate machinery to cut raw granite blocks including diamond blade and wire saws.
- Analyze each block and plan cuts according to customer orders to maximize yield and minimize waste.
- Inspect blocks for natural imperfections and adjust cutting techniques accordingly.
- Prepare blocks for subsequent manufacturing steps by ensuring correct sizing orientation and quality.
- Safely move and position heavy stone blocks using overhead cranes and carts.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area following all safety protocols.
- Collaborate with production team members to ensure smooth workflow.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand and frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms push and pull-on conveyor. The employee will be provided with the opportunity to use either a crane to lift loads or seek the assistance from another employee. Lifting or moving up to 40lbs frequently and 50lbs on occasion.
Qualifications:
- Good physical condition.
- Solid mathematical spatial and coordination skills.
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively within a production team.
- Prior stone fabrication experience is an asset.
Training:
We offer training that will advance your knowledge skills and abilities within the industry. This position does not require any prior experience or training. We will train you.
Working Conditions
- Employment status: Permanent / Full-time.
- Hourly rate: $21 to $30 and up depending on industry experience.
- Schedule/first shift: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
