Job Summary

The Corporate Communications Intern will support AccuWeathers global communications efforts by assisting in the development coordination and distribution of internal and external communications. This role helps strengthen AccuWeathers brand visibility supports key company announcements and contributes to storytelling efforts that highlight AccuWeathers mission products and leadership. The intern will gain hands-on experience in media relations content creation including executive social media content corporate messaging and cross-departmental collaboration within a fast-paced high-impact communications environment.

The internship also must be completed onsite at AccuWeather Headquarters in State College PA.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in drafting editing and reviewing press releases internal announcements media statements and other communication materials.
  • Support proactive media outreach by preparing media lists monitoring coverage and identifying opportunities to elevate AccuWeathers brand and thought leadership.
  • Conduct research on industry trends competitive news and relevant topics to inform communications strategy.
  • Help develop content for corporate channels including newsletters intranet posts executive messaging and social media as needed.
  • Coordinate logistics for communications campaigns events and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Assist with daily media monitoring and prepare reports summarizing coverage and insights.
  • Maintain organized communication assets including messaging documents press materials and coverage archives.
  • Collaborate with marketing product AccuWeather Network and other internal teams to support communications priorities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Communications Public Relations Journalism Marketing Media Studies or a related field.
  • Strong writing editing and proofreading skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly professionally and effectively.
  • Familiarity with media communications principles and AP Style.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous internship or project experience in communications PR or media.
  • Experience with media monitoring tools content management systems or social media platforms.
  • Interest in weather science communication or technology.
