Position Summary
The Packaging Technician is responsible for filling lifting (up to 50 lbs) stenciling and stacking bags of diatomaceous earth on palletsup to seven feet highaccording to customer requirements. This position may be assigned temporary duties in other departments as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Packaging Operations 75%
- Package powdered products for customer orders according to work instructions.
- Coordinate with forklift operators to properly configure the robotic stacker and ensure correct product weights bag types pallet specifications and quality requirements.
- Monitor weights stenciling labels and all order components; make adjustments and complete quality-related documentation as required.
- Fill small bags and bulk bags per order specifications and palletize finished product.
- Operate equipment vibrators as necessary to maximize productivity and material flow.
Safety & Compliance 15%
- Maintain a safe work environment by performing workplace exams and applying S.L.A.M. (Stop Look Analyze Manage) principles.
- Follow all LOTOTO (Lock Out/Tag Out/Try Out) procedures.
- Complete all required safety and compliance documentation.
General Plant Support 5%
- Perform routine cleanup including sweeping vacuuming warehouse floors cleaning hoppers transporting waste to landfill and general housekeeping.
- Perform exterior and interior maintenance such as trash pickup weed removal and painting (brush roller or sprayer).
- Assist with cycle counts for finished goods raw materials and supplies.
- File paperwork support data entry contribute to quality analysis and assist with equipment calibrations.
- Support safety initiatives including helping the Safety Manager prepare and deliver safety training.
- Operate a forklift for maintenance production and shipping as needed.
- Attend additional training classes when required.
Other Duties 5%
- Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Ability to stack bags up to a height of seven feet.
- Ability to stand walk and perform manual labor for extended periods.
