Description
Join our team of dynamic City of Fishers Parks staff this summer by working as a Lifeguard at the Geist Waterfront Park. The purpose of this position is to provide an exciting fun and safe environment for all residents visiting the park. Lifeguards are responsible for everyday operational tasks at the Geist Waterfront Park. Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing a safe environment for residents and visitors by responding to emergencies maintaining a clean park and staying up to date on training and certifications. Shifts are typically a minimum of 5 hours long between the hours of 8am - 7:30pm. More shifts are offered to those with flexibility in their schedules. There may be an opportunity to work shifts at the Fishers Community Center pool.
Examples of Duties
- Ensure the safety of all swimmers and the waterfront area by ensuring that policies guidelines and safety procedures are followed.
- Display professional rescue-ready behavior always and warn swimmers of improper activities or danger.
- Provide emergency care perform water rescues and administer proper first aid and/or CPR if needed.
- Assist with implementing Emergency Action Plans and promptly documents and reports all accidents incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
- Refrain from socializing while guarding and follow proper radio protocol when communicating with staff.
- Communicate effectively with others and provide excellent customer service to all patrons by addressing inquiries resolving concerns and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Attend mandatory meetings and coach development in-services as scheduled.
- Set up and put away deck furniture.
- Participate in community activities/rental events at Geist Waterfront Park.
- Perform duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Current Lifeguard Certification including First Aid CPR/AED and Emergency Oxygen or ability to attend Lifeguard Certification training through City of Fishers.
- Must be able to pass the American Red Cross Lifeguard Prerequisite skills test.
- Provide excellent customer service to all patrons and staff.
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time outside in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
- Attend scheduled meetings and training sessions.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
