Your role & work environment

You will be part of the team that provides market risk support to the Linear Rates trading desk. The team is part of the Product Control (PC) department in Amsterdam. PC is a global function within ING currently part of Financial Risk which is being moved into the Finance function as of Q2 2026. Responsibilities cover the Product Control for the trading activities within Financial Markets (FM) covering Equity Derivatives Trading and Collateral Exposure Management (CEM).

The core activities of the team are measuring and analyzing the day-to-day Profit and Loss (P&L) generated by the trading desk and monitoring whilst understanding market risk exposures in the trading books. Core to the role is the product approval process position keeping system migrations regulatory compliance projects and continuous system improvements.

Your key responsibilities

The key responsibilities for the role are:

  • Producing a timely and accurate daily P&L and risk report.

  • Providing in depth commentary that explains P&L fully

  • Understanding the P&L drivers and risk profile of the products and trading strategies.

  • Following up with traders on limit breaches demonstrating appropriate challenge.

  • Understand the business front to back activities and systems architectures addressing any weaknesses and well as support business changes such as new products (PARP)

  • Ensure the control environment is effective and efficient including SOX.

  • Assist in removing the dependency on End User Computing (EUC) procedures.

  • Ensuring the valuation and valuation parameters are appropriate such as performing price testing calculating valuation adjustments and monthly reserves as well as models market data Fair Value reporting and Day One P&L reporting.

  • Active engagement and ability to work with the Front Office on a range of topics to discuss business development and market changes as a business partner.

  • Participating in global projects (e.g. Valuation Risk Financial Markets Enhancement (FME) Market Data Roadmap BCBS 239)

  • Participating in business initiatives to support the Position Keeping Deal Capture and downstream systems developments and changes

  • Interact with audit teams as necessary both internal and external.

As a Product Controller within TRM you will move to Finance in 2026 you will also need:

  • Masters degree preferably in Mathematics Engineering Finance/Accounting Economics

  • Product control experience and at least 2 years experience with Equity Derivatives trading products within a bank or financial institution.

  • Strong financial product knowledge and a sound mathematical background

  • Ideally have accounting background which may include audit or accountancy practice

  • Be a good communicator with attention to detail and able to summarize.

  • Be a team player that can work with cross-functional geographically dispersed teams

  • To be able to understand the business perspective of key projects for Front Office

  • To have a flexible approach to the role and responsibilities

  • To be fluent in English

  • Programming experience (VBA Python )

  • Ideally have experience with Sophis
