What You Bring
Education:
- Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education training and experience
- Registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant
- Current basic cardiac life support certification
Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Ability to apply decision making and analytical skills
- Ability to role model conflict resolution strategies
- Ability to prioritize and organize work
- Ability to teach and identify patient/resident learning needs

Your Day to Day
- Provide safe and respectful nursing care adhering to the principles of the Home for Us model of care individualized care plans and priorities
- Encourages Household resident participation in activities of daily living and activities of daily life according to the abilities preferences and routines of the resident.
- Identifies resident and their significant other(s)s actual and potential strengths and limitations including physiological psychological socio-cultural and spiritual needs. Encourages involvement of patient/resident and their significant other(s) in decisions that affect them by respecting personal choices and providing information and opportunities to talk about their concerns.
- Administer medications per protocol monitor effects and maintain communication with the team
- Respond to incidents such as codes injuries spills and alarms following procedures
- Assist with staff and student preceptor orientation demonstrating procedures and providing support to staff to model the Home for Us model of care
- Address patient/resident and family learning needs provide educational materials and make referrals
- Attend care planning meetings provide input and advocate for patients/residents
