Job Description

The department of Neurological Surgery is seeking a Research/Engineer 1 to join their team.

Job Duties

10% - Plasma deposition (and upkeep of plasma reactors) of fluoropolymers and reactive precursors on to intravascular stents and test systems.

20% - Analysis of the chemistry of the coatings and stability of the coating by ESCA and SIMS.

30% - Treatment of stents with carboxybetaine (synthesis UV crosslinking and chemical immobilization)

30% - Preliminary blood compatibility assessment of treated stents including I-125 protein studies.

5% - General lab upkeep and maintenance.

5% - Reporting to the research team and authoring/publication of research papers.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in chemical engineering with one year of experience in I-125 radioactive research technology and RF-plasma deposition for the analysis and manufacturing of vascular stent coatings.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license certification and/or registration.

Additional Requirements

  • Knowledge and practical experience using I-125 radioisotope protein labeling technique for analysis of stent surface interaction.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in blood compatibility assessments of surface coatings.
  • Experience in quantitatively measuring protein adsorption to surfaces
  • Knowledge and practical experience using RF-plasma deposition for stent manufacture and analysis.
  • Experience in the manufacturing and analysis of vascular stent surface modifications in particular anti-thrombotic and anti-fouling coatings and payload capacity.

Desired Qualifications

  • Masters or doctoral degree in engineering particularly bioengineering chemical engineering or related fields.
  • Experience in the manufacture and analysis of vascular stent surface modifications in particular antithrombotic and anti-fouling coatings and payload capacity.

Compensation Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$56448.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$93180.00 annual
