Warwick Community School and District VisionThe Warwick Community Elementary School & District are committed to providing an innovative engaging and hands-on education to its students. Through nature-centered place- and project-based learning our elementary students study in and about the environment on our 25-acre woodland campus. Students learn to think critically and develop solutions for challenges faced both in Warwick and around the globe particularly those related to the environment and social justice. Warwick operates its own innovative preschool and elementary school and collaborates with four regional high schools to educate its students in grades 7-12. We are looking for an interim part-time superintendent to oversee the Warwick School District while our superintendent takes a one year sabbatical during the 2026-2027 academic year. This is a flexible position with a general expectation of 2 full days in person at the district office at Warwick Community School when school is in session and the remaining part-time work can be done virtually. The interim superintendent will be available in case of emergencies at all times. We are looking for an active passionate educator who is eager to wear many hats in our small loving community. Our ideal candidate would have: -Three or more years of experience as a superintendent. -A deep understanding of the science of learning for both children and adults. -Experience coaching and nurturing other leaders.-A commitment to innovative evidence-based pedagogy and curriculum that is engaging and inspires critical thinking and deeper learning.-A commitment to the use of data to inform goal setting and goal adjustments throughout the year. -A commitment to sustaining rural schools. -A commitment to equity and culturally responsive instruction. -A track record of successful fundraising and grant writing. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -Leadership -Lead communications with community and external partners through oversight of newsletters and reports including weekly community newsletter and biweekly report for school committee -Represent Warwick at state and regional superintendent meetings -Oversee budget working closely with the Finance Team to sign off on warrants payroll etc. -Oversee weekly leadership team meetings as well as related follow up -Coach supervise and evaluate leadership team members -Oversee Human Resources to develop review and sign contracts -Serving as leader for emergencies related to weather and legal matters -Meet regularly with school committee chair to plan for upcoming meetings attend to timely business and draft policies -Fundraising -Write grants and support others in the community who are writing grants on behalf of the district -Collaborate with superintendent (on leave) to liaise with the sister foundation The Warwick Community School Foundation Salary range is $52000 to $55100 for the 2026-2027 year; salary will be determined based on experience and fit for the role.
