Are you a self-starter who possesses integrity and a willingness to learn and improve We have an immediate opening for an Operations Technician to join our team at our facilities in Baton Rouge LA.

This position will support our Steam Methane Reformer (SMR) in Baton Rouge that supplies hydrogen to the APCI Hydrogen pipeline. The hydrogen pipeline distributes to various customers along the Mississippi River corridor via a pipeline distribution system.

The plant operator will be responsible for the day-to-day safe operation of the facilitys operating equipment and production processes in compliance with all EH&S standards while achieving a zero (0) lost time injury record and performing work duties in accordance with company quality systems safety policies and site-specific procedures. You will also be responsible for monitoring daily production processes to ensure reliability efficiency and productivity goals are met.

This is a safety sensitive position.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and/or military background.
  • Team player that is flexible.
  • Must be a self-starter and willing to work alone.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Day to Day control and monitoring the processes to produce hydrogen which includes operating and controlling the following: furnaces compressors DCS monitoring systems rotating equipment catalyst reactors water treatment systems (boiler and cooling water systems) operating manual valves and pressure swing adsorption skid.
  • Troubleshoot respond to operating conditions respond to customer order rates and process optimization.
  • Complete operator rounds execute minor preventative maintenance and support mechanical and instrumentation maintenance and projects.
  • Issue permit work in the field and monitor contract partners.
  • Participate in the basic safety process as a key member of the Site Safety committee and sharing responsibility for the sites overall safety performance.
  • Interact with staff personnel to maintain operation of plant; assist in plant equipment mechanical repairs instrument calibrations and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Support other facilities in the area as required.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Degree in Process Technology is preferred.
  • Five years of operations experience in the industry is preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter and willing to work alone.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude required.
  • Military experience is a plus.
  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts and weekends and take 24 hour on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Team player that is flexible and has a positive attitude.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to manage confined space entry climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Will be exposed to high noise levels.
  • Be able to meet call-in requirements as needed.
  • Elevated work required.

Work Hours

  • 12-hour rotating shifts days and nights
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to take 24-hour on call responsibilities on a rotating basis
