Job Summary :
Day Shift 10:00am-6:30pm. CRCST preferred. Previous experience with sterilizing surgical/hospital equipment highly desired.
Willing to train and assist with certification. Weeknight weekend and holiday call may be required. One holiday call period per calendar year with response time of 45 minutes
Participates in the delivery of safe quality patient care by providing clean disinfected sterilized instruments implants metal goods and equipment to hospital departments. The Certified/Registered Central Sterile technician is also responsible for providing case carts to Surgery and ChildBirth Center and resupply and clean items to all units.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities: 1. Cleaning decontamination and sterilization of all instruments metal goods and equipment used for patient care. 2. Assembling and packaging of all instruments and implants and assuring that they are correctly labeled and assembled. 3. Responsible for safe operation of all equipment used for cleaning and sterilization. (i.e. HIVAC sterilizer ultra sonic cleaner eto sterrad. 4. Responsible for accurate and meticulous documentation of all sterilizer charts record books and biological records. 5. Responsible for checking resupplying and dispensing of reusable sterile and clean items to all units. 6. Responsible for understanding and appropriately following the hospital-wide Body Substance/Standard Precautions Respiratory & AFB isolation protocols and to be compliant with the minimal protective barrier requirements for tasks performed in Central Sterile. 7. Responsible for loading and unloading all sterilizing and cleaning equipment to allow for proper steam or gas sterilization of all items. Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent Mandatory Licensure/Certifications: Certified/Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST)
