About the Role:
The responsible for the strategic direction leadership and performance of a firms reinsurance broking activities. This role involves managing key client reinsurer relationships and optimising risk placement. This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the overall broking strategy to drive business growth and meet financial objectives. This includes overseeing new business development and market expansion.
- Client and Reinsurer Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain high-level long-term relationships with clients (insurers and cedants) and global reinsurer partners.
- Risk Placement and Negotiation: Lead and oversee the design negotiation and placement of complex proportional and non-proportional reinsurance programs and treaties. This involves securing optimal terms coverage and pricing for clients.
- Team Management and Mentorship: Build lead and mentor broking teams fostering a culture of expertise collaboration and professional development.
- Market Intelligence and Analytics: Utilize global insights advanced data and analytics to provide market intelligence assess risk profiles and advise clients on effective risk management strategies and alternative risk transfer mechanisms.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments including underwriting claims finance and compliance teams to ensure seamless service delivery and alignment of strategies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education/Certifications: A bachelors degree in a relevant field (finance business economics) is typically required with an MBA or a professional certification being an added advantage.
- Leadership Skills: Proven strategic leadership skills commercial acumen and the ability to drive change and innovation.
- Technical Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of reinsurance structures and the global reinsurance market.
Experience: Extensive experience (typically 10 years) in the reinsurance broking field
Knowledge and Skills (General and Technical):
- Thorough knowledge in developing and placing reinsurance programs.
- Strong interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining good clients reinsurer and internal relationships.
