Job/Department Summary:

Under general supervision electricians perform the full range of journey-level skilled electrical and related work including installation maintenance modification and repair of electrical apparatuses equipment and systems. Incumbent installs and maintains typical and specialized electrical systems and provides electrical support for related trades such as HVAC and telecommunications. Work includes both new installations and repairs/retrofitting. Responsibilities include support services for campus events such as setup and removal of temporary power. Incumbent performs routine operational duties such as tracking work orders preparing cost estimates maintaining inventory monitoring and inspecting the work of contractors preparing reports and ordering supplies. Electricians are required to be on standby for emergency repairs as scheduled.
Facilities Management and Services (FMS) is a large multifaceted department consisting of employees working various shifts providing diverse administrative and operational services campus wide.

Required Education and Experience:

These abilities would normally be acquired through any combination of progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of a standard electricians apprenticeship program.

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:

Successful completion of an IBEW Apprenticeship Program or equivalent accredited apprenticeship
Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing journeyman-level electrical work
Current and valid California State Electrician License
Demonstrated experience working in commercial and/or industrial electrical environments

Time Base: Full-time

Pay Plan: 12/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-4:30pm

CSU Classification Salary Range: $71976 (Step 1) - $104844 (Step 20) per year.
