This is apart-time non-benefited opportunity with the Eaton Police Department offering flexible scheduling based on the operational needs of the department ideal for professionals seeking meaningful work while maintaining balance.

The hourly pay range for this position is $36.10 to $50.56 and the Eaton Police Department operates on a 12-step pay plan with starting placement determined by qualifications and relevant experience. The Police Officer plays a vital role in protecting life and property preventing crime enforcing laws and ordinances and serving as a trusted resource to the community. This position supports the Town of Eaton Police Department through proactive patrol investigations emergency response and public assistance while consistently performing duties in a professional manner aligned with the Town of Eatons Employee Handbook and values.

Police Officers patrol the Town by vehicle and on foot to deter crime identify suspicious activity and maintain a visible presence in the community. Officers respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service enforce laws and Town ordinances de-escalate conflicts take reports and assist individuals during routine and unusual situations. The role emphasizes strong community relationships including working with residents businesses schools and civic groups and supporting crime prevention and public education efforts. Officers also conduct traffic enforcement and control make arrests serve warrants secure crime scenes collect and preserve evidence conduct investigations prepare cases and testify in court as needed. Mutual aid to other law enforcement agencies is provided in accordance with department policy along with other related duties as assigned.

Supervision
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities and reports to a Corporal or Sergeant under the general supervision of the Chief of Police.

Ideal Candidate

Successful candidates will possess a strong working knowledge of current law enforcement practices applicable laws regulations and Town policies governing police operations. The position requires the ability to operate standard office equipment computers and law enforcementspecific software; prepare clear accurate reports and written materials; and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Candidates must be able to testify professionally in court or at hearings maintain positive and productive relationships with staff and the public represent the Town in a professional manner and perform effectively under pressure while managing multiple and sometimes competing priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Postsecondary education preferred but not required.
  • Colorado P.O.S.T. certification required.
  • Applicants hired outside of Colorado will be required to provide a Provisional letter from Colorado P.O.S.T prior to date of hire.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must comply with organizational and departmental policies.

Supplemental Information

HOURS OF WORK:
  • This position is part-time and scheduled a minimum of 20 hours per month.
  • This position requires rotating shift work
  • Scheduling is flexible and determined by the needs of the department.
