How youll contribute
Under the direct supervision of the Radiation Therapy Manager and according to established policies and procedures a Radiation Therapist is responsible for providing radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by the physician according to established standards and practices. Work is of a confidential nature. Performs other work of the department as required.
ARadiation Therapist who excels in this role:
Reviews patient history and physicians orders. Educates patients on procedures equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice as ordered. Monitors patient condition and responds to changes as appropriate.
Prepares equipment and supplies selects exposure factors and imaging parameters and ensures compliance with safety standards.
Performs quality control checks on equipment; troubleshoots resolves and/or reports malfunctions as necessary.
Positions patients and performs imaging procedures. Analyzes results identifies quality issues and takes corrective action including repositioning or repeating procedures.
