Position Summary: To provide a point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients doctors and other medical staff. To ensure inquiries are promptly efficiently and courteously handled; and documents are filed recorded and distributed efficiently and promptly.
Essential Job Functions:
- Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors in person or over the phone.
- Answers the phone while maintaining a polite consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette.
- Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting patient detailed information including personal and insurance or financial information. This also includes verifying all new patient or existing patient insurance and personal information as entered by the call center operator at the time the appointment was made.
- Facilitates patient flow by notifying the provider of patients arrival being aware of delays and communicating with patients and clinical staff.
- Schedules all tests MRIs or referrals. Also schedules next appointments and reschedules any patient appointments.
- Ensures faxes and scans are properly distributed in with the same day received.
- Collects patient payments and records these payments on a daily batch sheet for billing.
- Maintains the cash drawer for the office and reconciles the petty cash on a daily basis.
- Responds to patients prospective patients and visitor inquiries in a courteous manner.
- Protects patients rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
- Keeps office supplies within the clinic adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs placing orders and monitoring office equipment.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Experience as a previous medical receptionist experience for a minimum of one year.
- Excellent computer and keyboard skills and a working knowledge of practice management software.
- Customer Service experience.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Professional and a team player
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
