Job Summary

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington is seeking a non tenured faculty position as full time Assistant Associate Professor or full Professor without tenure to join the Division of Cardiology as a member of the Electrophysiology Team. Antcipated Start Date 2026.

Division description/details:

  • Heart Center currently includes 48 Cardiologists 4 Cardiac Surgeons 11 ARNPs. Current EP staffing includes 3 pediatric electrophysiologists 2 EP/pacemaker clinic RNs 2 cath/EP lab RNs administrative support.
  • Dedicated pediatric EP laboratory.

Clinical:

  • Provide EP clinical expertise in outpatient inpatient and operative environments.
  • Support the general cardiology and cardiac surgical programs for acute and chronic arrhythmia management.
  • Perform invasive EP procedures including diagnostic and interventional EP studies and ablations implantation of cardiac rhythm management devices.
  • Assist with intra-operative rhythm device implantations when required.
  • Reading of ECG ambulatory monitors and device interrogation reports.
  • Assist clinic pacemaker RN with scheduled and acute device checks remote in-clinic and inpatient.
  • Participation and contribution to the EP section quality improvement activities.
  • Participation in EP call rotation.

Research:

  • Look for opportunities for scientific investigation and collaboration with Seattle Childrens Heart Center with other divisions and other institutions.

Education:

  • Provide education for acute care nursing medical students residents fellows and ARNPs.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching research/scholarship and service.

  • Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June) meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
  • Associate and full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June) meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching research and service.

As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1400 academic appointments including approximately 650 paid faculty members 134 residents 70 ACGME fellows 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Childrens Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Childrens Research Institute (SCRI). Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Childrens UW Medicine and FHCC) and are part of the Childrens University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan.

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor range: $17865 - $26797 per month ($214380 - $321564 annually) Associate Professor range: $21445 - $32169 per month ($257340 - $386028 annually) Professor range: $27515 - $41273 per month ($330180 - $495276 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Childrens University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Childrens University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Childrens University Medical Group practice plan. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).

Compensation provided by Childrens University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Please see additional benefits that may be available: successful candidate will have:

  • MD or DO (or foreign equivalent)
  • Board Certified or Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology
  • Completion of at least 1 year of subspecialty clinical Electrophysiology (EP) fellowship (or foreign equivalent) in Pediatric Cardiology.
  • Must be licensed as a physician or eligible for licensure as a physician in Washington state.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
