Professor in Radiography at Lillebaelt University Hospital IRS (combined position)

A combined position as professor (40%) specialized radiographer (30%) and coordinating research manager (30%) is vacant at The Department of Regional Health Research Faculty of Health Sciences University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and at The Department of Radiology Lillebaelt University Hospital University Hospital of Southern Denmark (SLB). The professorship is limited to five years with the possibility of extension.

The academic position

The appointed professor will be based at the Department of Regional Health Research Faculty of Health Sciences SDU. The position is within the field of Radiography and candidates are expected to demonstrate substantial experience and strong research competencies in areas such as dose optimization image quality improvement and the advancement of imaging technologies. These focus areas are indicative rather than exhaustive. The role requires a focus on supervision interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaboration both regionally and internationally to benefit patients.

Clinical position

The applicant must have expertise in one of the specialized fields within the Department of Radiology SLB. The clinical work will be defined by agreement between the heads of departments and the applicant.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Professor will be expected to:

  • Lead and expand research in radiography and related fields
  • Develop strategies for research collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Teach and supervise BSc MSc PhD and postdoctoral students across SDU and SLB
  • Drive applications for external research funding
  • Promote the research area in both academic and public settings
  • Contribute to academic assessments and curriculum development

Research activity network and collaboration
You will be expected to:

  • Strengthening research output and visibility within radiography
  • Collaborate closely with hospital-based and university researchers
  • Build and maintain international partnerships
  • Lead large-scale multi-centered radiographic research projects
  • Ensure clinical relevance by working closely with practitioners
  • Support the development of evidence-based clinical guidelines
  • Build capacity in specific radiography areas and develop competencies in the department
  • Let research projects be focused on value for patients and potential for implementation in a clinical setting

Qualification
Applicants must hold a degree in Radiography and a PhD or equivalent research qualification. We seek candidates with:

  • Extensive experience in diagnostic imaging dose optimization image quality improvement and patient safety
  • A strong and growing publication record
  • Proven leadership in managing research teams and collaborative projects
  • Success in securing competitive research funding
  • Active involvement in international professional and scientific networks
  • Supervision experience with bachelors and masters health professionals as PhD and postdoc researchers
  • Extensive experience in teaching also in an international context
  • A strategic vision aligned with institutional goals
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset

Note: Danish language proficiency is not required at the start of employment but a C1 level must be achieved within the first two years.

Salary and terms of employment

The successful applicant for the professor position will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
