Job Summary

Driver

Purpose:

Colonnas Shipyard is seeking a Driver to support day shift operations in our Shipyard in Norfolk VA.

Job Description:

Obtain goods and equipment from vendors in a safe and timely manner.
Must maintain a valid drivers license in good standing and immediately notify management of any change in its status.
Drive the Companys vehicles over an established route(s) to deliver products and/or perform the retrieval of returned merchandise.
Assume responsibility for cash payments during approved pickups or deliveries.
Unload and accurately receive incoming products; assist with loading and unloading.
Inspect materials for any defects.
Provide personal attention to customer requests or product needs during loading.
Maintain and practice the Companys safety policies and procedures.
Record and complete entries on delivery roster in accordance with procedural guidelines.
Inform management of any concerns or issues that might affect the efficiency of the route.
Perform routine inspection of the assigned vehicle before departing each day and upon return.
Maintain vehicle cleanliness and fuel levels; notify the maintenance department of repairs needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Understand and act upon instruction / work independently to complete responsibilities.
Must have regular reliable attendance.

Qualifications:

Must have at least three (3) years of professional driving experience.
Must possess a valid drivers license for your state of residency and an excellent driving history for the last seven years.
Must be approved for the Companys Approved Drivers List
Must be able to work in fast paced environment lifting up to 50 lbs. of product repetitively
Must be self-motivated with a high degree of integrity and be able perform job duties with minimal supervision on a timely basis
Must be able to work nights and weekends

Travel Requirements:

Minimal Travel; 10% or less.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job but no less than 20 lbs.
Must be physically agile to perform tasks in naval ships. Able to work on and climb ladders work in extreme temperature environments aboard ships in shipyards under industrial conditions and in confined Spaces including enter and moving through manholes.
Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat humidity noise and dirty conditions working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
Frequent exposure to noise due to machinery and equipment.
Employee is required to operate trucks.
While performing the duties of this job you may frequently be required to stand walk & sit; use hands or fingers; handle or feel; talk and hear. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms climb and balance stoop squat kneel twist and crawl.
Work in extreme temperatures and conditions. At times you will work in areas that have less adequate ventilation
