About SUSE Professional Services

In Professional Services at SUSE we provide world-class Consulting Training and Premium Support services which enable our customers in their successful adoption of SUSEs portfolio of products and solutions be that Enterprise Container Management using SUSE Rancher Prime or Linux platforms to support business critical applications such as SAP.

About the Role

The SUSE Professional Services team is seeking a Consulting Architect fluent in both German and English to work hands-on with our enterprise customers across EMEA but principally in our DACH region (Germany Austria Switzerland). Our ideal candidate will have experience working with Kubernetes (preferably Rancher Prime) strong technical and communication skills and a good understanding of IT infrastructure DevOps and open source software in general. Application development experience is a plus.

To succeed in this role you will need to work closely with our customers to help them understand the impact SUSE can deliver for their business through its products and solutions.

Consulting Architects should expect to travel up to 40% of the time on average as the role will include consulting and technical engagements delivered on customer premises.

We will accept a Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or a closely related field plus 10-15 years experience in relevant roles.

Focus Areas
Working with customers to design and implement SUSE solutions including those based on Kubernetes and Rancher Prime.
Hands-on software configuration which could include building automation scripts and implementing integrations to solve customer problems
Maintaining an expert-level understanding of the SUSE portfolio of products
Understanding of an ecosystem of complimentary technologies
Explaining the value and impact of SUSE solutions for customers
Building and maintaining good working relationships with customers
Providing technical leadership advocating for customer needs and channeling feedback throughout the lifecycle of customer engagements
Demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills
Working effectively in a proactive manner with both customers and colleagues many of whom will be geographically distributed.
Ability to adapt and learn within a dynamic and fast-paced environment

About You

Native German speaker or fluent in German to the equivalent standard of a native speaker
Fluent in written and spoken English
10-15 years of hands-on experience working with relevant IT technology as a Consultant or Engineer
Experience designing and implementing solutions for large enterprise customers
Ability to transform functional requirements into solutions that can be implemented and operated in production
Ability to lead the customer into driving solution adoption
Experience presenting on technical concepts to people with differing levels of technical understanding
Ability to set and maintain goals welcome feedback and enjoy success
Autonomous and self-driven

Technical Experience Must Haves
Experience with containers and container orchestration: Kubernetes distributions and Rancher or equivalent platform.
Experience with DevOps and CI/CD software: scripting and automation
Experience working in an enterprise Linux environment

Technical Experience Nice to Haves
Direct experience or awareness and understanding of the Open Source software industry
Experience with virtualization technologies: e.g. kube-virt or Harvester
Experience with storage technologies: e.g. Longhorn or Ceph
Experience with security products (SIEMs WAFs etc.)
