Role
Based in Rome Italy and under the direct supervision of the Accounting Manager the Accounting Assistant I will provide support to the Accounting Service Unit in the Rome office with various tasks in projects related to the harmonization efforts of the Alliance.

More specifically the Accounting Assistant I will:
This is a nationally recruited position based in Rome (Italy) open only to internal candidates namely: regular staff members complementary staff members and individuals who are currently employed or have completed a contract with Bioversity in the last 6 months. The position is BG4 level on a scale of 14 levels with level 14 being the highest and the salary range starts from Euro 35790. The remuneration package includes a competitive salary leave provisions medical and life insurance and non-contributory retirement plan. The contract will be for a period of 1 year subject to a probationary period of 6 months and is renewable subject to performance project needs and availability of funds.

Required Skills:
Secondary school education supplemented by office training or related courses in economics accounting finance and related fields. Previous work experience (preferably minimum 2 years) in finance units performing process-oriented / transactional activities. Proficiency in relevant software packages (Microsoft Office Suite). Knowledge of or experience with financial management software. Solid interpersonal communications and teamwork skills; courtesy and tact and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different cultural and national backgrounds. Well-developed skills in personal organization filing and priority setting problem solving and accuracy. Strong client orientation and service approach. Sound judgment and initiative; ability to work independently within the assigned area. Full professional proficiency of the English language both written and spoken.
