PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU):

- This role will serve as a Neonatal Feeding Therapist to provide direct patient care and/or consultative services for the premature and/or medically complex infants in a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as referred by a licensed provider.

- Responsible for providing feeding/swallowing assessments for all infants <35 weeks gestation at birth.

- Assist to develop clinical programs and individualized feeding plans to facilitate safe cue based oral feeding for each infant; implementing developmentally appropriate feeding/swallowing intervention services to minimize feeding challenges as warranted; actively collaborating with neonatology team regarding therapy needs in the NICU oral feeding practices premature infant development and provision of developmental care.

- Confer with and coach families and caregivers regarding individualized feeding techniques to minimize impact of feeding challenges in their NICU infant.

- Participate in operational aspects performance improvement and quality improvement activities within the department.

- Provide input in formulating budget assist in evaluation of departmental performance and take action to remain in budget guidelines.

- Ensure that patient charges and documentation are accurate and entered on a timely basis.

- Participate in infection control equipment training compliance safety and educational programs both at the departmental and organizational level.

REQUIREMENTS

Licensed by the State of Washington as a Speech Language Pathologist.

A Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Equivalent education/experience.

DESIRED:

1 or more years of NICU experience
