Office of Adult Aging and Disability Services - Wheat Ridge Regional Center
This work unit provides comprehensive services and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This work units focus is on providing services and supporting an active learning approach. The work unit is also focused on creating and promoting a safe and healthy environment for individuals supported. This work unit provides 24-hour treatment services that are in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
The Wheat Ridge Regional Center is looking to hire motivated hard-working individuals to provide direct support services to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Some of the individuals we serve have high medical needs while others need significant support around behavioral and mental health needs. Once hired on there are many opportunities for promotion and career growth.

Summary of the Positions:
The work unit exists to provide Medical Support Services to intellectually disabled individuals with complex medical and/or psychiatric needs receiving services at the Wheat Ridge Regional Center (WRRC). The WRRC consists of several group homes scattered throughout the Jefferson and Adams County community. Medical Support Services consists of the Medication Storage and Distribution Operations specialized medical transportation services and agency medical/central supplies.
Job Duties
Attends medical appointments with the person served
Communicates information with medical providers and others regarding the current status of the person served.
Communicates with house staff and ID team members regarding the results of the appointment and current status of persons served. Fill out T-logs.
Administers oxygen and monitors vital signs of persons served. Administers physician-ordered medications and medical treatments in proper dosages at appropriate times to each individual.
Records a wide range of information: medications given ( includes time and amount ); residents response to medications and treatments; intake output seizures menses; and all information relevant to all aspects of the residents medical status.
Supervises the person served in the medical clinic until the appointment is completed. May prepare individuals for examinations such as transferring individuals out of their wheelchairs onto an exam bed and obtaining vital signs (temperature pulse blood pressure and respiration rate) and weighing the patient.
Duties include having to implement physical intervention techniques (Safety Care) if needed for safety redirection techniques and documenting interventions in accordance with agency documentation and Incident Report protocols.
Protects the rights of persons served and enhances their quality of life.
Assists the person with any personal needs that might occur.
Provides services in the Transportation Hub by picking up individuals served at WRRC from their residential homes and work and taking them to their appointments at WRRC and to their outside consultation appointments and/or provides any other non-medical transportation needed. If another staff member does not accompany the individual to the appointment the driver will stay with the individual and monitor their responses after the appointment.
Delivers the locked medication boxes and miscellaneous supplies to the program area for staff pick-up at the beginning and end of the day.
Delivers the locked medication boxes and miscellaneous supplies to the designated homes as needed.
Other duties as assignedincluding but not limited to assisting residential services for miscellaneous transportation and delivery needs as able and office organization.
May assist and train residents on all activities of daily living (ADL). This includes but is not limited to: meal preparation; personal hygiene; social skills; recreation activities; housekeeping and laundry; safety and transportation all with a training approach.
Assists other departments during down-time such as assisting in the homes when needed ( in ratio ) and/or Day Program rooms.

Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Certification or licensure appropriate to the work assigned to the position
