POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Design Engineer will coordinate all product development activities of new and current products. Additionally they will provide support input and guidance on all product design and development activities.

CORE FUNCTIONS

Maintain a safe clean work environment; address any unsafe conditions or behaviors with a supervisor
Serve as a positive leader and mentor by exhibiting and instructing desirable behaviors and skill sets
Coordinate all product development activities including new product development and product improvements
Maintain CAD software database and ensure defined drawing criteria are met on all new and existing drawings
Engineer innovative design concepts for new products utilizing CREO and other software tools
Perform redesigns on existing products to improve manufacturability reduce warranty or reduce costs
Provide support input and guidance on all product design and development activities
Analyze customer service warranty and service data to identify areas of potential improvement
Define oversee and help to perform testing and auditing of new products and product modifications
Provide support to product manufacturing engineering and manufacturing during the hand-off of a new product
Initiate and validate ECNs as they relate to product improvements and/or modifications
Update and ensure accuracy of BOMs within ERP software
Inspire motivate and lead others in utilizing Lean manufacturing tools to deliver results
Organize materials at work station and department according to 6S standards
Perform other related and non-related duties as assigned through on-the-job training

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
5 or more years of hands-on product design experience
Lean or similar continuous improvement knowledge and experience preferred
Software experience: CAD/CAM Microsoft Office Suite ERP Software

Travel

Occasional travel may be required

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Individual Contributor: working team member with no oversight of others and no management responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Occasional lifting of 25 pounds or less occasional lifting of 26 pounds or more
Standing walking and sitting throughout the duration of shift daily
Repetitive use of hands and/or fingers able to reach with hands and arms and use of vision
