About the Role
Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) is seeking two Staff Interpreters to deliver high-quality interpreting services across our health facilities and community settings.
These roles are essential in supporting accurate communication between health professionals and patients who are Deaf hearing impaired or from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
Two positions are available:
The successful applicants will play a vital role in ensuring patients can access safe inclusive and effective healthcare through clear and culturally appropriate communication.

You are a qualified and professional interpreter with strong cultural awareness excellent communication skills and a commitment to confidentiality and ethical practice. You are adaptable reliable and confident working across a variety of clinical environments.

Fluency and literacy in English and relevant community language(s)
Fluency and literacy in Arabic and/or Dari/Pashto including the ability to interpret accurately in clinical and healthcare settings
Highly developed communication skills with strong cultural awareness and sensitivity
Proven ability to interpret effectively in fast-paced clinical and healthcare environments
Capable of managing competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across diverse settings
Flexible reliable and adaptable to changing service demands
Passionate about improving patient experiences through clear respectful and culturally appropriate communication
