JOB SUMMARY
The Affiliate Instructor is an independent American Red Cross-certified instructor who teaches health and safety courses under ProACT Academys Training Provider license. Affiliate Instructors maintain their own training operations while being formally affiliated with ProACT Academy to access the Red Cross Instructor Portal and report courses. This role is designed for instructors who value autonomy professionalism and community impact.
Affiliate Instructors teach independently using their own equipment manage their own registrations and pricing and deliver high-quality Red Cross courses that meet both American Red Cross and ProACT Academy standards. Affiliate Instructors serve a wide range of learners (students employees families first responders and members of the public) using engaging practical and confidence-building instructional methods.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Independently teach American Red Cross courses in certified and approved disciplines (e.g. CPR/AED First Aid Lifeguarding EMR).
- Deliver instruction that is accurate engaging and fully aligned with Red Cross curriculum and ProACT Academy standards.
- Create a supportive learning environment that promotes participation skill mastery and confidence.
- Provide and maintain all required instructional equipment in compliance with American Red Cross requirements.
- Manage course logistics registrations blended learning assignments and participant communication.
- Submit course records through ProACT Academys reporting process in a timely and accurate manner.
- Participate in quality assurance visits and feedback processes as required by ProACT Academy and the American Red Cross.
- Maintain current instructor certifications and remain up to date with Red Cross policies updates and teaching standards.
- Represent ProACT Academy with professionalism in community and client settings.
As needed additional responsibilities reasonably within the scope of this role may be assigned.
AFFILIATION & LICENSING
All Affiliate Instructors must maintain an active affiliation license with ProACT Academy in order to teach and report courses under its Training Provider Agreement. This license fee includes a ProACT Academy email address and access to other instructor resources.
- Initial License: $60
- Annual Renewal: $45
- Late Renewal: $60
Graduates of ProACT Academy instructor courses may be eligible for a complimentary one-year license. License fees may be waived based on instructional volume.
COMPENSATION MODEL
This is not a paid employment position.
Affiliate Instructors operate independently and:
- Set their own pricing
- Process their own registrations
- Teach under their own business model
- Submit course records through ProACT Academy
At the end of each month Affiliate Instructors receive an invoice for services and licensing associated with courses reported under ProACT Academy. Fees are based on the courses taught and records entered.
REQUIREMENTS
- Current American Red Cross Instructor certification in at least one discipline.
- Both a written examination and psychomotor assessment will be required to be an approved instructor for each program taught.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and facilitate skill-based learning.
- Ownership of equipment that meets Red Cross requirements for the discipline taught; rental equipment avaliable.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to adapt instruction to diverse learners.
- Organized detail-oriented approach to course logistics and records.
- Professionalism reliability and integrity.
