Job Description

The Benefit and Leave Administrator under limited supervision administers the benefits and leave activities within the assigned divisions and colleges and acts as the primary campus contact for employees departments administration Minnesota State MMB SEGIP and other vendors related to the benefits and leaves activities on campus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Customer service skills sufficient to counsel employees who have questions.
  • Ability to learn and understand collective bargaining agreements laws and personnel policies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in order to communicate clearly and effectively with individuals and groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills are essential in order to maintain effective working relationships with management employees external constituents and the general public.
  • Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions using precedents collective bargaining agreements benefit program policies and regulations as well as personnel laws and policies.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office and HRIS system and other benefit/payroll related systems.

Preferred Qualification

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
  • Experience with benefit and leave program policies and regulations sufficient to advise employees and managers and to ensure compliance.
  • Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements laws and personnel policies.
  • 2 years of experience in the human resources field.
  • Experience with electronic benefit insurance/retirement/leave systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and comprehend complex benefit program changes in a short period of time.

Work safely at all times which includes but is not limited to participating and completing all required safety trainings as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools equipment and personal protective equipment.
