Job Summary
Responsibilities of Position:
Full-time: 44 hour position
Monday-Friday 7:30-4:00
Saturday 8:30-12:00
Salary depending on qualifications
This job classification performs routine work in the operation of scales and related equipment at a county landfill. Work involves responsibility for the operation of scales and related equipment by weighing and recording the weight of solid waste brought to the landfill by contract trash collectors and private citizens. Work includes preparing and maintaining daily records and keeping the office clean.
- Weighs vehicles by means of an electronic scale (connected to a computer) to determine the weight of solid waste brought to the landfill for disposal.
- Determines where load will be required to unload.
- Makes daily bank deposits and prepares daily reports.
- Maintains cash drawer.
- Good customer service skills.
- Work efficiently and tactfully in a demanding high stress environment.
- Answer phone
- Prepares and communicates clearly.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to learn materials brought to the landfill.
- Ability to operate an electronic weighing scale and computer console.
- Ability to sit or stand at a workstation utilizing a computer for long periods of time.

Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to learn how to operate an electronic weighing scale and computer.
- High school graduate/equivalent.
- Cashier experience preferred
- Valid drivers license.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
