Job Summary

Position Summary

The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member.

Successful applicants will have experience with teaching or using common programming languages such as Python C Java and Assembly and should also be familiar with R Rust or similar other tools which are typically used in Data Science environments. They must be willing to proactively consult and collaborate with faculty members and administrators at partner institutions to which Cosumnes River Colleges students typically transfer to complete their bachelors or masters degree. They must further be willing to consult and collaborate with employers and other industry partners as well as with faculty colleagues working at community colleges in the Greater Sacramento region on the skills and requirements which our students need to acquire or master to efficiently find employment update their professional toolkits or continue their education at a transfer institution. They must also be willing to regularly research adopt as appropriate develop related skill sets and effectively apply emerging technologies such as modern Artificial Intelligence tools to help ensure effective student learning and the regular and accurate assessment thereof and to that end they must be willing to implement and regularly assess the teaching and learning modalities that will allow as many students as possible to achieve their academic goals as effectively as possible.

This is NOT a remote position. Successful applicants must be able to teach courses in-person/on-ground and participate in on-ground in-person meetings.


Position Salary Information:
Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree upper/graduate level units earned and/or related professional occupational experience per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract(the initial maximum placement is Class V Step 8).   • CISP 300 Algorithm Design/Problem Solving
  • CISP 310 Computer Architecture and Organization
  • CISP 360 Introduction to Structured Programming
  • CISP 400 Object Oriented Programming with C
  • CISP 401 Object Oriented Programming with Java
  • CISP 430 Data Structures
  • CISP 440 Discrete Structures for Computer Science

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Masters in computer science or computer engineering OR Bachelors in either of the above AND Masters in mathematics cybernetics business administration accounting or engineering OR Bachelors in engineering AND Masters in cybernetics engineering mathematics or business administration OR Bachelors in mathematics AND Masters in cybernetics engineering mathematics or business administration OR Bachelors degree in any of the above AND Masters degree in information science computer information systems or information systems OR the equivalent. All degrees must be from an accredited institution completed by August 20 2026.
  2. Transcript Requirements:
  • Transcripts must be from an accredited U.S. institutions or approved foreign evaluation agency.
  • Foreign transcript evaluations must be issued by an AICE (Association of International Credential Evaluation Inc.) or NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) member agency. See the Foreign Transcript Evaluation webpage for details.
  • Transcripts mustclearly identify the degree(s) being used to meet the Minimum Qualifications.
  • If more than one degree is required to meet the Minimum Qualifications (e.g. a bachelors and a masters) transcripts for each degree must be included.
  • Transcripts must show the degree title and indicate whether each degree is completed or in progress.
  • If the degree is in progress the application must state the month and year the degree is expected to be attained.
