Because of the temporary nature of these appointments Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. The hire will spend 50% of their effort co-directing (with the PI) an international summer program on Exploring Planetary Systems in the Era of Time-domain Astronomy that will take place at UH Manoa June-August 2026 and 50% of their effort on their own research in time-domain astronomy.


Minimum Qualifications

1. PhD in astronomy astrophysics or planetary science.

2. Excellent command of spoken and written English.


Desirable Qualifications

1. Research experience in time-domain astronomy including analysis of

data from TESS ASAS-SN and other ground-based instruments.
