Cairns Private Hospital is seeking dedicated and experienced Hospital Medical Officers to join our clinical team on a casual basis. This role offers flexible shifts and is well suited to local General Practitioners or career medical officers wishing to maintain acute hospital skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide medical assessment and clinical care to hospitalised patients across surgical medical and rehabilitation wards.
Complete admission assessments and request appropriate diagnostic investigations.
Work collaboratively with Visiting Medical Officers and allied health professionals.
Respond to clinical emergencies and initiate first-line management.
Maintain accurate timely and comprehensive patient documentation.
Participate in clinical handovers and multidisciplinary team meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
General Registration with AHPRA.
Minimum of three years postgraduate clinical experience.
Current Advanced Life Support certification is desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrated commitment to patient safety clinical excellence and continuous improvement.
