Cairns Private Hospital is seeking dedicated and experienced Hospital Medical Officers to join our clinical team on a casual basis. This role offers flexible shifts and is well suited to local General Practitioners or career medical officers wishing to maintain acute hospital skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide medical assessment and clinical care to hospitalised patients across surgical medical and rehabilitation wards.
• Complete admission assessments and request appropriate diagnostic investigations.
• Work collaboratively with Visiting Medical Officers and allied health professionals.
• Respond to clinical emergencies and initiate first-line management.
• Maintain accurate timely and comprehensive patient documentation.
• Participate in clinical handovers and multidisciplinary team meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

• General Registration with AHPRA.
• Minimum of three years postgraduate clinical experience.
• Current Advanced Life Support certification is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety clinical excellence and continuous improvement.
