Job Summary

*This is a grant funded position.

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to serve as support in the planning coordination and implementation of district wide behavior support and intervention for students and schools. This position reports to the Director of Behavior Support & Intervention.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the development implementation and evaluation of intervention programs that address the needs of at-risk students where student behavior is the primary factor.
  • Models and provides coaching support for students with intensive social emotional and behavioral needs. This includes designing systems to support and ensure equitable access to the learning environment.
  • Assists with collecting data and teaching staff on the principles of behavior which include the development of FBAs/BIPs as well as evidence-based practices for behavior.
  • Collaborates with district and school staff to support core supplemental and intensive behavior practices in schools.
  • Collaborates with school staff in the areas of classroom management and behavior management support.
  • Provides direction to a variety of faculty staff and student programs and services; participates in formal and informal classroom visitations and observations; provides recommendations and suggestions for improvement as appropriate where student behavior is of concern.
  • Facilitates district wide training aligned to MTSS for social emotional and behavior supports.
  • Monitors student data related to students identified for intensive behavior support.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to establish and maintain productive collaborative relationships with others.
  • Ability to relate to students with mutual respect while carrying out a positive and effective disciplinary program.
  • Skills in problem solving and conflict management.
  • Models district standards of ethics confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Organizational skills that demonstrate ability to ensure schedules and deadlines are met.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret assessment results for the purpose of designing and modifying instruction.
  • Knowledge of school law and district policy. Ability to read interpret apply and explain such policies and procedures to staff parents and students.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Doc suites and other associated software.
  • Current knowledge of best practices in classroom management student behavior and instruction and the ability to provide methods of supporting effective classroom management to impact student learning.
  • Awareness of diverse backgrounds and ability to relate in a manner that builds relationships with students and their families.
  • Maintains consistent punctual and regular attendance.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver oral presentations to groups ensuring correct English grammar.
  • Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Uses effective interpersonal skills including tact patience and courtesy.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum: Bachelors degree in education human services or related field with an emphasis on K-12 social development plus five years of classroom teaching experience.
  • Desirable: Masters degree in education human services or related field plus five years classroom teaching experience.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid NC teaching license and/or guidance counselor credentials
  • Valid NC Drivers License

Pay Grade: Certified Pay Schedule - Full Time Position -10 Months
