A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Toxteth Liverpool is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. This is a full-time role with an ASAP start supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including Autism (ASC) ADHD speech and language needs SEMH and moderate learning difficulties.
The role will involve working 1:1 and in small groups supporting pupils to access the curriculum regulate emotions and develop independence both academically and socially. You will work closely with class teachers the SENCO and external professionals to ensure each child receives tailored consistent and effective support throughout the school day.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Toxteth your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 SEN support for pupils with additional needs
Supporting small group interventions focusing on literacy numeracy communication and emotional regulation
Assisting pupils to access the curriculum alongside their peers
Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs and Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation transitions and behaviour management
Encouraging positive behaviour independence and engagement in learning
Working collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO
Supporting children during lessons break times and structured activities
Using visual aids sensory resources and differentiated materials
Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
Supporting personal care where required (training provided if needed)
Maintaining accurate records and observations
Upholding safeguarding child protection and school policies at all times
The school is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant who:
Has experience supporting children with SEN in a school or care setting
Is calm patient resilient and emotionally intelligent
Understands the needs of pupils with Autism ADHD SEMH or communication difficulties
Can build strong trusting relationships with children
Is confident supporting behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
Can work effectively as part of a team
Is reliable and available for an immediate start
Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
Is passionate about inclusive education
Experience working with EHCPs sensory needs speech and language support or emotional regulation strategies is highly desirable but not essential for the right candidate.
