The Role
A supportive and inclusive primary school in Kirkdale Liverpool is seeking a motivated patient and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis with an immediate start. You will be working closely with pupils who present with a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) ADHD SEMH speech and language difficulties sensory processing challenges and moderate learning difficulties. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or within small group interventions depending on individual pupil needs and Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
This role requires consistency empathy and strong communication skills as you will play a vital role in supporting pupils academic progress emotional regulation and social development throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities
As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Kirkdale your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 SEN support to pupils with additional needs
Supporting small group interventions focusing on literacy numeracy communication and emotional regulation
Assisting pupils to access the curriculum in line with their abilities
Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs IEPs and behaviour support plans
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation sensory needs and social interaction
Promoting positive behaviour independence and confidence
Working closely with class teachers the SENCO and support staff
Supporting pupils during transitions playtimes and lunchtimes
Using visual supports sensory resources and differentiated materials
Monitoring progress and recording observations
Supporting personal care where required (training provided if needed)
Maintaining a calm structured and inclusive learning environment
Upholding safeguarding and child protection policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience supporting children with SEN in a school or care setting
Be patient empathetic and emotionally resilient
Have a good understanding of Autism ADHD SEMH and communication needs
Be confident supporting behaviour using positive strategies
Be flexible reliable and proactive
Have strong communication and teamwork skills
Be available for an ASAP start
Be fully committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
Experience with EHCPs sensory integration techniques or speech and language interventions is desirable but not essential.
