Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Senior Accountant to join the team on a full time ongoing basis.

Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for providing high-level accounting support in managing the day-to-day financial operations of the School. This position delivers expert and professional accounting assistance to ensure excellence in financial management aligned with the Schools strategic and operational objectives.

Duties include but are not limited to preparing and analysing financial management reports; ensuring the integrity of the general ledger through robust internal controls and managing the fixed asset register. The Senior Accountant assists with the preparation of budgets and forecasts provides financial analysis and benchmarking and supports effective budgetary control across departments to ensure alignment with the Schools financial objectives.

The role also contributes to the continual improvement of financial systems and processes the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures and compliance with relevant legislation and standards. The Senior Accountant reviews creditor payment runs payroll uploads and other key transactions to ensure accuracy and addition the role liaises with internal and external stakeholders including auditors and government agencies and may provide backup support for Accounts Receivable Accounts Payable and Payroll functions as required.

Key Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will have:

Qualifications/ Licences

Accountant qualifications (either CA or CPA) or relevant accounting experience (minimum 5 yrs).
In-depth technical knowledge of (and ability to source) Australian Accounting Standards Corporations Act regulations and FBT/GST/WorkSafe legislation.
Strong ability to solve problems offer solutions and make decisions.
Extensive experience with Microsoft Office including intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
Accounting system experience (Synergetic would be an advantage).
Employee Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain).
National Criminal History Check (or willing to obtain).

High-level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear professional documentation and convey information with accuracy diplomacy and professionalism.
Proven ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment demonstrating initiative reliability and the capacity to deliver high-quality outcomes with minimal supervision.
