Job Title: Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
Location: New Bern NC
Position Overview
A growing engineering and construction services organization is seeking an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support field-based engineering evaluations and project execution. This role is designed for an early-career engineer who wants hands-on exposure to real-world engineering applications while working directly with senior engineering leadership. The position offers a long-term development path toward professional licensure leadership responsibility and increased technical ownership.
The focus is on technical evaluation engineering judgment and execution support.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with engineering evaluations for residential and commercial structures.
Participate in site visits inspections and field investigations.
Support the preparation of clear concise engineering documentation and recommendations.
Learn applied engineering design methods under the supervision of licensed engineers.
Coordinate with field personnel to ensure engineering plans are properly executed.
Assist with oversight of project execution and field staff during evaluations.
Gain exposure to scheduling materials coordination and operational workflows.
Perform physical tasks associated with site inspections and active job sites including confined-space environments when required.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Structural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or actively pursuing certification.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to learn practical field-driven engineering and construction practices.
Valid drivers license.
Comfortable working on active job sites and in physically demanding environments when necessary.
