Position Summary

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe efficient and productive operation of heavy equipment used in landfill operations at the Grady Landfill in Rockmart GA. This role supports daily landfill activities while maintaining compliance with company safety standards and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently to support landfill operations

• Perform waste placement spreading grading and compaction

• Maintain landfill working areas slopes and access roads

• Conduct daily pre- and post-operation equipment inspections

• Identify and report maintenance or safety issues

• Follow all GFL safety policies procedures and environmental regulations

• Communicate effectively with site leadership and team members

• Work outdoors in all weather conditions

• Work overtime as operational needs require

• Cat D8R Dozer

• Cat D8 Dozer

• Cat D6T D6N D5 Dozers

• Cat 836K & 836 Compactors

• CatExcavators

• Cat 740 GC Off-Road Truck

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating heavy equipment (landfill experience preferred)

• Strong focus on safety and environmental compliance

• Ability to operate multiple types of heavy equipment

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Valid drivers license required
