This role focuses on early identification outreach and brief intervention with students identified by school personnel as high-risk and who may benefit from an introduction to Independence Academys recovery-oriented model of healthy growth and candidates with clinical training in counseling social work or related fields are encouraged to apply this is not a traditional clinical or therapeutic role. The work more closely aligns with that of a School Adjustment Counselor emphasizing relationship-building trust and motivational conversations that promote self-awareness through Independence Academys 13 domains of recovery capital. The Outreach / Intervention Specialist will provide brief individual and group interventions in local middle and high schools support students navigating substance use and mental health challenges and collaborate closely with school staff and community position plays a key role in building relationships with school districts and engaging students in a new regional location for Independence Academy on Cape Cod. As part of onboarding and ongoing professional development the Outreach / Intervention Specialist will also participate in training and job-shadowing at Independence Academys Brockton MA SERVICEPerform comprehensive assessments to identify students dealing with substance use and mental health concerns within assigned middle and high with school counselors teachers and administrators to gather relevant information about at-risk one-on-one counseling sessions to students dealing with substance use and mental health personalized intervention plans based on individual needs and and track progress of students well-being and provide ongoing and facilitate group-based interventions to address substance use and mental health issues among a safe and inclusive environment for students to share experiences build coping skills and foster a sense of and deliver educational workshops and presentations on substance use prevention intervention and recovery and mental health promotion for students parents and school awareness of available resources and support systems both within the school and the local promptly and effectively to crises involving students facing acute substance use or mental health with emergency services and mental health professionals as needed to ensure the safety and well-being of the AND TRAININGStay informed about current trends research and best practices in the fields of substance use and mental health interventions for in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance skills. Work closely with school personnel including counselors teachers and administrators to coordinate efforts and identify students in need of with external agencies mental health organizations and community resources to enhance the network of available EVALUATION AND COMMUNICATIONSubmit all written reports goals and objectives on a timely student attendance progress monitoring third-party billing and other documentation current and regular reports and data to supervisors and stakeholders regarding program outcomes and student input for the development of department program or district budget as by established work hours and follow policies and procedures outlined in the North River Collaborative Personnel Policies & Procedures with parents as needed to help them better understand the role of the clinician in the school setting including the students individual plan. Provide home suggestions when Team meetings and other meetings as AND SAFETYRespond to the needs of individual students so as to enhance their social/emotional health and personal to situations in a culturally proficient manner taking into account a whole student training is able to apply de-escalation strategies if necessary to prevent a student from harming themselves or to move with reasonable speed and physically assist students during any emergency drills or actual to safely and effectively participate in restraint training and to safely perform physical escort and restraints as needed once to safely and effectively participate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training if requested and to safely perform CPR as needed once a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
