What Transportation contributes to Cardinal Health
Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products transportation inventory management as well as demand supply and manufacturing planning.
Transportation is responsible for the movement of materials and products between suppliers manufacturing warehousing and the customer. Management of transportation assets and systems to gain greater service cost efficiency and optimization of processes.
This role will be responsible for maintaining logistics systems providing planning and execution support with key partner teams including transportation operations distribution center operations IT sales and customer service through the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) transportation management system (TMS) and freight payment systems.
What is expected of you and others at this level
- Manage key transportation data elements in the transportation management system to support shipment planning execution and freight payment.
- Provide data and documentation for the network.
- Research and resolution for rate and invoicing discrepancies.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs).
- Applies working knowledge in the application of concepts principles and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks
- Accurately enter and validate data entries.
- Works on projects of moderate scope and complexity.
- Identifies possible solutions to a variety of technical problems and takes action to resolve
- Applies judgment within defined parameters. Identifies and analyzes routine system issues documents occurrences recommends a resolution path and acts with partner teams to resolve them.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of transportation processes and systems including rate and contract maintenance.
- Receives general guidance and may receive more detailed instruction on new projects
- Work reviewed for sound reasoning and accuracy. Able to adapt change.
- Accountability to the controllable Logistics expense.
- Works to understand complex functional situations by paying attention to the details of the tasks at hand and by breaking them down into smaller pieces.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of relevant experience preferred
- Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent work experience preferred
- Familiarity with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics
- Ability to accurately analyze and present data in a highly proficient concise manner using Excel through key functions such as VLOOKUP IF Statements and use of Pivot Tables preferred
- Application experience using Supply Chain Management through Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and transportation management systems (TMS) preferred
- Broad organizational knowledge is preferred since this role regularly interacts with field and corporate departments
- Excellent customer service problem solving and decision-making skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
