Job Description

The Department of Urology currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Temporary Hourly Research Consultant. This position will be remote 10-12 hours per month for approximately 6 months.

The Research Consultant (Payroll Title: Pro Staff Temp Position (NE H)) will work to provide research support for Dr. Judith Hagedorn and Dr. Hunter Wessells. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to design management and implementation of data generation gathering organizing maintaining and analytic activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Facilitate the design implementation and maintenance of the information infrastructure in support of research projects (10%)

Create sophisticated and inter-related instruments and surveys for research purposes (5%)

Establish procedures for the entry cleaning linking appending merging and preparing data for analysis (40%)

Organize archive and document multiple quantitative and qualitative databases relevant to various research projects (20%)

Provide technical assistance to other members of the lab regarding appropriate analytic approaches and techniques (5%)

Conduct summarize and present analyses of data of a variety of types and for a variety of audiences (20%)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

This position requires a Masters Degree in Public Health Statistics or equivalent graduate level training and four years of relevant experience.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license certification and/or registration.

Additional Requirements

Expertise in instrument and survey design and development

Expertise in deterministic and probabilistic linkages of large databases

Solid understanding of empirical research including quantitative and qualitative analytical research skills

Ability to think flexibly about the use of analytic methods and demonstrated openness to working on research projects that integrate qualitative and quantitative research methods

Demonstrated ability to provide inferential statistics by applying basic and advanced analytic skills to a variety of research projects

Proficiency with relational database data linkage and statistical software including one 9and preferably several) of the following packages: REDCap SQL LinkPlus LinkKing LinkSolv Stata R SPSS SAS ArcGIS Microsoft Access NVivo and Atlas Ti

Collaborative orientation flexibility and the ability to be proactive in decision making and carrying out work

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable communicating one-on-one or in groups of both internal and external constituents

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Positive upbeat and flexible in approach to work in a fast-paced environment; willing to cope with and embrace change
Comfortable with juggling demands of a busy frequently changing plan of work in a professional manner while exhibiting sound judgment about priorities and work scope.
