Our IFG Lewiston mill is looking for a lumber Grader on our swing shift. The uncertified Grader grades lumber in accordance with WWPA standards and customer expectations. This position will train with Certified Graders to inspect the quality of lumber and grade lumber to WWPA grade rules. Hourly rate: $26.64 - $30.72 DOE.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules regulations and JSAs.
- Follow safety protocols and report hazards to ensure a safe work environment.
- Examine lumber for defects such as knots splits and warping.
- Use tools to measure lumber for proper moisture and dimension.
- Train with Certified Graders to prepare for WWPA Grader certification.
- Assign appropriate grades to lumber based on WWPA grade rules.
- Monitor the quality of lumber throughout the production process to include proper grade marking and report any issues to supervisor.
- Maintain a production level work pace.
- Duties vary by site.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Actively working on WWPA certification
- Skills:
- Basic understanding of species lumber grades length and width.
- Ability to read a tape measure calipers and moisture meter.
- Ability to read and understand printed materials.
- Ability to pass a hair follicle drug test post-offer pre-employment physical and background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1 year(s) of experience in lumber manufacturing.
- High school diploma or GED.
