8Flow | Senior Backend Engineer (AI experience)

On behalf of 8Flow SD Solutions is looking for a talented Senior Backend Engineer (with AI experience) to join the founding team to help build on our existing momentum to take our suite of products to the next level. You will provide additional value-adds through greenfield initiatives as well as preparation planning and groundwork to scale the platform. Our ideal hire will have a strong desire to work at a startup and shape the vision of the company together with us. You will work closely with the Engineering leadership on creating highly-performant scalable and reliable backend services that can handle enterprise-scale workloads.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable backend architectures.
• Architect and develop high-throughput event processing systems.
• Establish best practices for backend development and system scalability.
• Design and implement robust data processing pipelines that handle large-scale data ingestion and processing.
• Drive technical initiatives for critical system components while mentoring other team members.
• Optimize system performance and resource utilization across our distributed architecture.
• Work with the team to iteratively design and enhance our product for high velocity.
• Explore new product development opportunities based on a strategic understanding of the users landscape.
• Develop and maintain high-performance APIs and integrations with third-party systems.
• Work closely with AI/ML engineers to integrate AI models into production environments ensuring performance and scalability.
• Implement security best practices for data protection and compliance with enterprise security standards.
• Collaborate with DevOps to improve deployment pipelines monitoring and incident response
  
• Design implement and support backend systems that power AI-driven features and workflows.
• Own productionization of AI/ML components including model serving inference pipelines and system monitoring.
• Ensure reliability observability and cost-efficiency of AI-enabled backend services at scale.

Requirements:

• 5 years of experience building scalable and performant backend systems capable of handling high-throughput workloads.
• Strong experience with backend technologies ideally (Python is a plus).
• 5 years of experience in PostgreSQL and designing data models (SQL & NoSQL).
• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Hands-on experience supporting AI/ML workloads in production environments.
• Understanding of model inference latency considerations and scaling strategies for AI-powered systems.
• Experience working closely with data scientists or ML engineers on end-to-end AI feature delivery.
• Good understanding of the cloud is important especially for AWS (GCP and Azure are less relevant).
• Experience designing and implementing high-performance APIs and data-intensive systems.
• Experience developing and maintaining integrations with enterprise platforms and third-party APIs.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex distributed systems.
• Experience developing browser extensions is a plus.
• Experience in an Agile environment is a plus.
• Experience with Terraform and CI/CD is a big plus.
  

Preferred skills:

• Expertise in event-driven architectures and stream processing at scale.
• Deep knowledge of distributed caching load balancing and fault tolerance.
• Hands-on experience with container orchestration and service mesh technologies.
• Experience integrating LLMs embedding models or AI agents into backend systems.
• Familiarity with vector search semantic retrieval and AI-driven data pipelines.
• Familiarity with high-scale event processing systems as well as vector and graph databases.
• Experience optimizing database performance and implementing efficient data access patterns.
• Track record of architectural decisions that led to successful system scaling.
• Hands-on knowledge of DevOps & managing modern architectures across public cloud and enterprise environments.
• Experience with AI Machine Learning NLP and computer vision.
• Experience with deep learning / reinforcement learning is a plus.
